Chapter 12 has come in handy for this project. It touches base on hacking, using safeguards, human errors, vulnerability, threats, etc. Hackers hack because they mostly want to gain financially. Regis University also states that, "Many young hackers are extremely intelligent, unmotivated at school because of their intelligence, and looking for an opportunity to prove themselves with their programming skills" (Regis University, "Why Do People Hack?"). Although it seems that it is just for financial gain, it is also an opportunity to perform their intelligence.
With this in mind, this is one of the reasons that companies and people have to keep this is mind. How can people prepare for crisis such as these? It is important to have such a safeguard. A safeguard as the book mentions is meant to protect databases and other organizational data. It also mentions that one way that human safeguards can protect against security threats are by restricting access to authorized users requires effective authentication methods and careful user account management.
